I have read a few forums, ranging from crime in Mozambique to the after effects of the latest and notorious financial crises which has caused the inflation to go up the roof. Yes, it is scary to think of it. Last year already in England the very popular Woolworth chain went completely bankrupt causing nearly 50 000 employees their jobs. It was the first time in history that the mighty Pound was equivalent to the Euro.
However, I am startled that with such issues at hand there seem to be no free thinkers or entrepreneurs bringing about innovative ideas on how to deal with the current situation or rather taking proactive measures. As a young African (South African), I have learned my lesson the very hard way. The government is never the answer to your problems!! no one will take a sthingy and force it into your mouth, you have to make decision to change your own life. "God helps those who help themselves" my high school teacher used to say. After my Bachelors degree in Hospitality management, I worked in the hotel industry for more nearly a decade and I found myself simply frustrated and not getting anywhere, then I knew right then, that somehow, I had to make a drastic decision. A decison that will turn my life around no matter what the risk might be. Today, I am proud that I made such a choice, because my life is far better than what it used to, no more working 15 hours a day and double shifts, sleepless nights and I can certainly enjoy my public holidays and or take a vacation at any given time. I am currently residing in Switzerland, as well as studying my dual Masters degree in the area of International Management (FHNW Business school - Switzerland) and International Business (England - Cambridge). I have a customized catering business running in Cape Town with about 25 employees. One might wonder, how I managed to achieve this! well let me tell you, it has been easy but I knew change would be good for me. I remember not being able to find sponsor after I received my admission letter from the university. The government or any other organisations could not help, to make matter worse, I was an average scholar with average grades and never had managed to get excellent grades that would stir the attention of funding associations my way. If there is anything I have learned and am greateful to my mother, she always used to say to me, son, there are two types of people those with wishbones and backbones, which one are you? I decided long ago that I am not going to wish but rather become a doer. Wishing could never get me anywhere!!
Therefore, I propose in this forum that all the entrepreneurs or people that would like to make a difference, whether by inspiring or bringing about diverse ideas to both the young and the old to help transform others live`s. Lets showcase business opportunities and variant business ideas, lets keep the young minds off the street, lets drive the future leaders of Africa into a different mindset for a better tomorrow. Lets shares our success story and say to others It can be done!!
